Lava Flow Activities Updates
by ParadiseJim on Oct.27, 2009, under Uncategorized
Kilauea 10/25/09 – Lava continues to erupts from the TEB vent on Kilauea ’s eat rift zone and flow through tubes to the ocean at waikupanaha. Surface flows continue to be active on the lower pali and coastal plain, but have been largely flowing over the existing flow field this past week, creating only very minor expansion of east margin of the TEB flow field.
As of last Thursday, the active lobe on the coastal plain was 700 yards north of the coast, near the former location of the Kalapana access road.

Advice to go early: Approximately about 1000 visitors daily.
Handful of Local Vendors: Chip , flashlight, bottle water and etc.
Directions: Drive South to the dead end on Highway 130 – you can’t miss it.
What to Bring: Light jacket / flashlight / bottle water / wear long pant and hat / walking stick for safety /
If you don’t like long hike, then you should visit the Kalapana Lava Flow, while the county offer Free Admission and the walking distance is only about 15 minutes away compared with 3.5 miles to Kilauea lava flow. Be careful not to go at night, because many tourist got lost in the lava field. This can be very dangerous because there were several well experienced hikers, whom got lost for several days and fortunately was saved by a chopper.
Just amazed the red lava rolling down the hillside, that travels about 5 mph, then suddenly entry into the cold ocean water turning instantly to about 1800 degree F. Hot stream and EXPLOSIVE occurs immediately with throwing spark and water slashing.
Two Stream Lava Vents entering into the ocean forming
mushroom clouds high above into the atmosphere.
Don’t worry folk, it is very SAFE to visit any of the Lava Flow. Our County Forest rangers from the Hawaii Volcano National Park are well trained in Public Safety and Awareness. All you have to do is follow where the visitor are going. There will be rangers providing directions for the general public. Rest to ensure it’s VERY SAFE to watch this LIVE magnificent Mother Nature Show. :0}

Could not have asked for anything more…
by ParadiseJim on May.06, 2009, under Uncategorized
I had high hopes for the Paradise Suite after visiting their website and reading positive reviews from past guests. Somehow, our stay with Jim and Amy far exceeded even those lofty expectations! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on the Big Island!
Compared to other B&Bs of this quality, Hawaii Paradise Suite presents far and away the best value. The next closest thing costs at least $300 a night, and even then you’d have to share the property with other guests!
The rooms are beautifully decorated with high-quality and comfortable furniture! It took us no time at all to feel at home in the warm surroundings. The living area was welcoming with a comfortable couch and convenient A/V setup complete with a large projector screen perfect for retiring for the evening in our own personal movie theater. The bedroom was very spacious with a comfortable California King bed and the large private attached bathroom was always clean and fully stocked with all the linens. The property itself had plenty to offer with a quality swimming pool, horseshoes, and a small golf course.
And finally, the service was outstanding! Jim was painstakingly attentive from weeks before our arrival to the very last minute of our stay. He was always happy to share insights into the big island and had plenty of resources at the ready to help you plan your stay on the Big Island. Amy’s breakfasts were the perfect start to our mornings. If there’s anything at all we wanted done,
Jim and Amy seemed ready to serve. I actually proposed to my fiancee during our stay at Hawaii Paradise Suite and Jim bent over backwards to help me plan.
I would not think of staying anywhere else upon my return to the Big Island!

Merrie Monarch Parade 2009
by ParadiseJim on Apr.22, 2009, under Big Island, Hawaii Islands, Hilo District
Here is another highly successful Merrie Monarch event for the year of 2009. Each year we have attended the parade and each year we tend to get front door parking space of which we’re not use to at all. Being from SF. we rarely attend a parade because it’s just TOO crowded and no way on earth you’ll find a parking space.
We so far been to Merrie Monarch for the past four year with front door parking space which only take less than 5 minutes to find parking. This year it only took us a matter of seconds, wow, wow, wow!

The Big Island of Hawaii Mysteries…
by ParadiseJim on Mar.24, 2009, under Big Island, Hawaii Islands, Hilo District, Puna
To those whom never visit the Big Island of Hawaii will become fantastic, blown away, mystify and wanting more when the adventure is over…Mark My Words! – jwlee
From the beginning people asked…how was the Hawaii Islands formed. The geological answer is from the Volcanoes eruptions over hundred to million years ago. How and What do you think of the Mother’s nature beauty of the islands were created?
However; the Kilauea Volcano only erupted in Jan 1983 and has not stop since. See continue mountaintop lava flow that leads into Pacific ocean entrance is a sight ever unforeseen in your lifetime. Hot stream shooting up about 200′ up in the air, cracking and popping sound as the lava rolls into the ocean waters.
